Ingredients
- 200g/7oz prawns, peeled and cleaned
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 egg white
- ½ tsp golden caster sugar
- 1 tsp light soy sauce
- 2 spring onions, sliced
- 4-5 slices white bread, crusts removed
- Sesame oil, for brushing
- 1 egg, beaten
- 100g/3.5oz sesame seeds
- Oil, for shallow frying
Method
- Separate the egg yolk from the egg white and set aside.
- Combine the prawns, garlic, ginger, egg white, sugar and soy sauce in a food processor. Blitz until it forms a paste.
- Transfer into a bowl. Stir in the spring onions and chill covered for 30 mins.
- Brush one side of all the bread with sesame oil. Spread the prawn mixture on top, taking it right to the edges of the bread. Brush the beaten eggs carefully over the top and sides. Generously sprinkle with sesame seed until well coated.
- Heat 2-3cm/0.8-1in of oil in your Whatever Pan until hot then cook each piece of bread.
- Fry bread side down for 1½ mins. Carefully turn over and cook for another 1-2 mins until the sesame seed are golden and the prawn paste cook through.
- Serve with soy sauce or Sweet & Sour sauce. Enjoy!
